Alpha phase ended - Let's start the beta

Rate this Entry
Some people don't know what an alpha phase is:
- Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet (beta the second), so it's basically the first phase of the development. You don't have all features and the one you have quiet certainly don't work.
- Beta phase means you normally have most if not all features, but there is quiet certainly still bugs around.
After the beta, you should have one ore more Release Candidate (RC) which should be bug free and complete, no more features will be introduced at this point and as soon as all reported bugs (or at least most of them) are squashed, you go to production.

Said that, I can confirm you that the engine left the alpha phase, and we now entered the beta one. March is for sure the release month, yet maybe not the first week of it. We will have more than enough features to please you with even at start with more modules planned to be released after the release date and some even will be free to all owners. The package containing the engine, a couple of templates (one even designed by Peter), loads of modules (around 50), some initial data to fill the database, an installer and upgrade mechanism, access to the wiki documentation, and 1 year worth of free updates / upgrades. All that for the price of 100$. If I shall quote illusions: "seeems very very cheap for what it can do, id like to see it raised a bit"

Just to give you an idea:
The code currently contains 8'964 lines of PHP
970 lines of Javascript
and 40 MySQL tables.

No, the PHP code is not simply garbage don't worry:

or more complex code:

However each engine function does have a comment describing what it does and what the parameters are. Also remember that our wiki doc will grow over time and will contain at the end all the needed pieces.

You may see a preview in the form of a demo version here:
    http://www.nw-engine.com/demo/
Keep in mind this demo let you just log in as admin (via the link on the home page) but doesn't allow you to modify anything. All update/insert/delete queries as well as modifying the file system is blocked. So you will have more an overview of the system than actually being able to play with it. This is to keep the system clean

Looks very nice bertrand. This is what I call a real "RPG" stats, traveling (sorta).

I would like to create some modules for this engine. I think you know I can do it. PM me if I can.

3rd comment. I am unsure if your aware, but the menu somehow when my browser was resized several different ways, it now has scrollbars and will not go away. ;(

You know me. I nitpick at every little detail.. lol..s

Thanks Sim, it's not yet a "game" but it's for sure a good starting point. Next phase will be to add some content to make it a least a bit playable.

Menu indeed get scrollbars, but should lose it if you have again enough space. That's up to the game owner at the end to tweak his CSS / template, I mean, you think we will all keep the same look ? For the creation of the modules: I sent you a PM.
